i have a 2 year used car warranty on an x3
Its just gone in for a service and i told them it was pulling to the left a bit and could they check tracking/alignment.
Im under pressure to get it back today so asked that it go back in next week to get one or two bits done such as a reversing light failure sensor etc.

they have just told me there is play in the track rod and its the cause of going to the left and that it needs 3 tires as they have worn on one side, caused by getting pulled.
They said this will be covered under warranty

The tyres were almost new when i bought it, with 10000km done in the 11 months since i got it.
Where do I stand with the fact that a warranty issue has caused wear and tear that i now have to pay for?

I think OP is asking if he can get BMW to pay for new tyres as they are worn extra by the play in the rod.

I doubt it OP, but do ask. They may be willing to do something under goodwill.

How long has it been pulling left for, and how severely?

No harm in seeing what they can offer, but any obviosu issues (such as the car pulling left) should be addressed by the driver long long before they cause tyres to wear. If it was say the camber angle or toe angle - this could easily go unnoticed by the driver and cause excessive wear, and I would want to see covered.

Didn't BMW say that they would cover the tires?

Check the tyres yourself, BMW's idea of needing to replace them may not reflect reality. I wouldn't expect them to be covered under any warranty. And I wouldn't let BMW replace them either, unless you like paying through the nose.

When did you first notice it was pulling to the left?
