    Quick background:
Came down the other morning to find the downstairs switches fuse thrown.
Through a process of elimination it came back to the heating timer.
AFAIR the timer was left on but the boiler off but cant be sure.
Figured its over 20 years old so time for a change.
Picked up an EPH R17 single zone panel.
Mains L to L on panel.
Mains N to N on panel.
Panel comes to life and can program it. Fine
    Left earth as is.
Then tried every combo on the boiler wiring to the panel starting with L to 4 ( see diagram linked) N to 2.
No life to the boiler with any combo.
Including connecting L with 1 with the supplied cable.

Could it be a case that somewhere between the timer and the boiler the cable has been broken although from what I can see all the cables are fine or is it possible the unit is maybe faulty. Will try and get hold of a plumber tomorrow.

is it possible your boiler has tripped its hi limit stat

a failed circulating pump can cause the above

water getting into circulating pump electrics is a common cause of switches tripping

If you have a Neutral and Live cable going to the boiler From the clock, then that Neutral should be connected to the Mains Neutral terminal, then boiler switched Live to terminal 4 and link Mains Live to terminal 1.
At least then it is wired correctly.
Then check the room thermostat, if you have one, is turned up, then check for power at the boiler using a multimeter.
