a full service history with invoices or call the garage that supposedly did it. Many a rural dweller drove the crap out of them for years without them seeing a garage and claim they're grand. UK Import ones with better spec that haven't lived their whole lives here are preferred.

Seizing front calipers were an issue on these, UK ones can have rust issues from salt, Bad enough that diffs can corrode and become porous in some Scottish ones.
Look for service history especially detailing fluid changes, there are two diffs and a transfer box as well as the gearbox and engine.
Other than that they are very reliable.

Check subframe for corrosion. Transfer box and gear selectors gave problems as did injectors in 06 to 08 models. If half minded they're good for 500k miles at least.

thanks for all the help, might need to stretch my budget a bit, anything in my price range ive looked at so far has had no service history and were a bit rough, service history seems to add a fair bit to price but prob wort it in the long run
