Is The business gone from RTE Radio 1

On a Saturday in August I switched on RTE Radio 1 hoping to hear The Business on Saturday. There seems to be a programme called Second Captains Saturday in it's place :-( Thought it was just for the summer.

So, is The Business gone from RTE Radio 1? Listened to Second Captains Saturday for a few moments and felt it was not for me.

As my fall back option I moved over to Down to Business on NT which I always felt was a weaker version of The Business. Not a huge fan of Bobby but far better than RTE's Saturday's at offering 10 am.

    Any views welcome.

Didn't hear any mention of it Greenman, I agree it was superior to Newstalk's offering, slightly ironic, coming from a public broadcaster.

I assume it must have been scrapped, at least for that time slot, since Second Captains isn't the kind of show you'd expect to be broadcast only during the (RTÉ) holiday season.

I notice Late Debate hasn't returned either, even though the Houses of the Oireachtas has been back for a fortnight, so I could be wrong there.

Dáil only returned this week. Although The Late Debate hasn't. I wonder why?

Would hope that The Business will return, i sort of like Second Captains but suspect it'll wear thin on me soon enough.

I would have expected the Late Debate to be back by now.

Thanks for the replies, I thought I was the only one who cared.

The business was a fine programme, I just mailed them on thebusiness@rte.ie
    wondering will they be back.

    Thanks again folks.

    JD.

I always found it a bit incongruous in its slot , it is the weekend after all and there's twice a morning business slots on morning Ireland ... it is a well produced programme (BY RTE Standards) but first thing on saturday morning I want to chill , just a personal view.

It was put out to tender earlier this summer so I expect that has something to do with the later start .

Something similar happened to " The History Show" last year and we got less episodes .

    Isn't competition grand:rolleyes:
