We had some slates come down off the roof and scratch / dent the bonnet and wing of our i40. Is there anywhere that anyone would recommend to get it fixed?

My first port of call would be a main dealer, but I was told that most main dealers outsource this work to third parties anyway - if thats right, probably cheaper to cut out the middle man?

    Any advice welcome - thanks!

*Note - title should ready bodywork!

All depends on the age of the vehicle. Yes main dealer will outsource to an expert bodyshop and maybe charge a premium, but they will validate the warrenty. So price both options and consider implications before you make up your mind.

Thanks. Its a 141 so still in warranty, but until til the end of the year so not really a concern either way.

Very few if any main dealers do bodywork. They'll out source it.

You could just ask the service dept who they typically use or who they recommend and go to them direct. Or get some recommendations on here or elsewhere.

A bonnet and wing replaced / repaired won't affect the warranty once you don't use a cowboy body shop.

Well it'd affect your paintwork/ corrosion/ anti perforation warranties in a big way, in that there won't be any. Iirc Hyundai offer 12 years anti perforation.

Not a huge concern anyway though I suppose and most bodyshops will put a year or two of warranty on their own work.

ACE autobody in Finglas is worth a shout.

Theyre minor dents, grazes and scratches, nothing needing replacing, but Id still want to get it done asap.

Once the job is done correctly it can't affect the warranty. The dealers use body shops.

Some dealers do, but those bodyshops are vetted by the dealer and your bodywork invoice will be from a main dealer, which will.maintain your warranty.

You can be sure if the job is done outside of the dealer network they will void any paint/ body corrosion warranty in that area.

I wouldn't let that put me off, as you don't really see people claiming for stuff like this often anyway so the chances of ever needing that warranty are slim anyway.

I found AJK in Rush to be particularly good when I needed to get the side of a previous car redone.

+1 for AJK , have done work on my own cars and work vehicles , top class.
