I've been using Nokia phones since the mid nineties and liked that they use Windows operating systems. I can't get my head around my sons iPhones.
My Lumia 625/Windows 8.1 is more or less useless although it's still works for Twitter and Whatsapp but facebook doesn't really work.
Anyone got recommendations for the newest versions of Nokia phones.
Btw I'm a pay as you go customer.

There's a mobiles forum here on Boards. A lot of knowledgeable posters on it.

Windows phone has been discontinued. The latest version was windows phone 10. The latest version you will get will be a Microsoft Lumia (as Microsoft took over Nokia’s smart phone range). Nokia went back to making simpler phones like the new 3310.

Personally would avoid windows phones now as development has stopped.

Nokia are now on the android system and have launched a new lineup this month. Google their new phones.

I don't bother buying at all, haven't bought one in years, it's common for some to buy regularly so there's many second hand ones lying around, ask around before purchasing , you could get lucky

Try Facebook in your internet browser on the phone. No notifications though without app. Much better battery wise and re storage space. Facebook app uses a lot of battery.

If you're determined to stick with Windows Phone for another while, amazon have reasonable prices on the 650 or 550 (£79) for an unlocked model

I think Microsoft are providing security updates for another year on these later models. After that the phone should still work but could be vulnerable but probably less so due to it's very small user base

It really was a lovely phone OS - uncluttered and intuitive - a pity Microsoft didn't push it more, especially in the early days when it started to fall behind on available apps.

Agree on the cheep(er) Chinese brands I bought a ulefone brand phone 2 years ago. Has been faultless ever since and half the price of a branded phone here. I changed from a niokia 820 to this and after a day or two it was like I'd had it for years

Maybe ebay. Some sellers there selling unlock codes, a bit of a hit and miss.

Might be worth your while asking on the mobiles forum here on boards.

I unlocked an old Nokia years ago with a code I got from a website. I just did a quick search, and this was the first one I found as an example. There are many others too...... https://unlocks.co.uk/free-nokia-unlock-codes
