    Hi,

What the would you advise to replace our recenty deceased Samsung LE40A686?
    It's connected to a VU+ Solo4k and a Sony K740P.

Don't want to break the bank but would like to stream content/players if possible (I have Wifi and ethernet available near the tv).

    Regards,
    Pat

    Hi Pat,

that 686 was a bit of a classic and sorry to hear that it's gone to the recycling cloud in the sky :(

To be honest most of the smart TV's these days will outpace it in most ways, even tho' the 686 was ahead of it's time - at the budget end you can look at the LG 43UK6400 which is just £379 / €449 ( although we can do a Boardie deal on the € price to take it back to €429 including delivery):
    https://euro.richersounds.ie/p-203302-402225.aspx

If you wanted to upgrade and get ahead of the game again like you did with your old 686 then look at either the LG 49SK8100 which of course is a larger screen and far smarter than the 686 at £749 / €849:
    https://euro.richersounds.ie/p-203382-402579.aspx

Or if you wanted to stay Samsung look at the Samsung 49Q6fn ( a bit of a rare beast stock-wise :( ) at £999 / €1199:
    https://www.richersounds.ie/p-203396-401519.aspx

Hope that give you some idea but of course do have a browse of our site at www.richersounds.ie and if anything grabs your fancy just drop me a line and we will do our best to assist in any way,

Thanks for thr suggestions, we’re going to hold out for Black Friday or boardsie sales before then to see if we can get something between the 6400 and the 8100 price. Some of the vagueness in the specs make it difficult to justify the extra €400 to the finance department😄😄.

    Thanks again,
    Pat

    Hi Darklordsbane.

    Thanks for the input.

A lot of deciding on a TV is down to personal choice as you say.

Each manufacturer adds their own little extras to try and entice consumers to pick their products.

    Hi Kenny,

What do you think of the Samsung ue50nu7400 in comparison to the other recommendations? Have seen it elsewhere for £537!

Would it be a suitable replacement and can you price match?

    Thanks,
    Pat

    Somavar,

thanks for the mail and apologies for the delay getting back to you - I had a couple of ill-deserved days off over the weekend hence the delay, apologies!

The 7400 series from Samsung are not the same as last year's '7' series - they are roughly equivalent to last year's '6' series and being honest I do think that the LG 49SK8100 is a significantly better TV ( albeit slightly more expensive) and that's what I would replace a 686 with if I wanted a significant upgrade without going mad and getting a QLED which of course is a completely different price category.

In terms of pricebeating - yes of course - once the price is broadly the same offering as ours in terms of availability, warranty and delivery we are always happy to price-beat.

Thanks again and keep us posted if we can assist,

    Hi John,

Thanks for the honest reply and insight into the differences between this years and last years Samsung series.
I’ll keep an eye on the LG 8100 and see if any offers come up on it!

    Regards,
    Pat

    Hi again,
After looking at the features I’d like to have, and the reviews, I’ve been drifting up the sizes:-) ended up liking the xf9005 and lg 8100 at 50in.

We’ve had a look and decided that we don’t want the TV to be too dominant in the room and the 49/50in TVs are coming in at 110cm which would have them extended over the side of the tv stand.

I can see that the manufacturers are committing the best of the feature advances to the larger screens.

So, with that all that in mind.....

    What’s the best 43in TV?

    Regards,
    Pat

Hi probabbly the best 43" tv is the likes of the sony kd43xf8505 https://www.richersounds.ie/p-203206-sony-kd43xf8505-43-inch-4k-ultra-hd-hdr-smart-led-android-tv-youview.aspx .  This TV offers superb picture quality and motion processing, and also has the advantage of using the Android operating system.  This allows access to the google play store, which has a vast amount of apps.

    Regards Stephen
