Prospective buyer wants registration cert number

    Just some quick advice please, a prospective buyer is interested in a car I am selling, I have emailed him a copy of the registration cert with any details particular to the car tippexed out, but he does want the reg cert no , is it safe to give it to him?

    I would think no.
    Why does he want it?
    He doesn't need it to do a search for anything.

    Have you met him?

    My sister had a bloke from Galway email about her dublin reg car. They wanted to buy it, without seeing it, no query on price and were pushy about getting the reg cert.

    No reason for it, so no.

    Scammers.

    He maybe trying to use the cert for a stolen or cloned car that is similar to yours. I certainly wouldn't give it to him and there is no legitimate reason why he needs it.

    Don’t give it, that will tell him your name, address, email, phone number etc. Also risk of cloning.
