End of vrt exemption - consent from revenue

I brought a car from UK to Ireland and qualified for vrt exemption. It states on registration cert that written consent is needed in order to be able to sell the car after 12 months. The 12 month time frame has passed.

I can't find details on revenue.ie but does anyone know what office issues such consent?

    Thanks

I think you are misreading it; consent is needed for a sale within 12 months not after 12 months.

If someone was to buy this car intending to export it and claim a refund from Revenue would I be right in thinking that no refund would be made ?

If so, is there any way to check this in advance of export for :

    (a) Private individual ?

    (b) Motor dealer ?

you can't get a refund of something you haven't paid. I guess you'd have to ask the Motor Tax people at the Revenue

If VRT was never paid in the first place then you cannot get a refund of it.

I hope thats the case. I'm away from the registration cert at the moment but will check the exact wording when I get back. I think it states a sale restriction expiry date "with written consent".

"Disposal before <date> requires written consent from revenue" is how mine is worded.

    No restrictions after the date.

Thats what I would expect too.

So, is there any way to check for this in advance of export for :

    (a) Private individual ?

    (b) Motor dealer ?

    I don’t believe so.
