Politically Incorrect Thread Contrasting UCC and CIT Students

I live in Cork, near UCC but play tennis in Bishopstown, near CIT. I pass both institutions regularly and see the students that attend. This thread is about something that has bothered me for several years: The students (both male and female) of UCC are, in general, far more physically attractive, fit and well-dressed than their counterparts in CIT. Why is this?

I know that a lot of wealthy Americans attend UCC now, is this a factor? Does CIT have a lot of low-points Certificate courses that attract a low grade of student whose slovenly attitude to studying is mirrored in their attitude to health and personal grooming?

I would welcome any opinions on this question. Is it general throughout Ireland i.e is there a class divide between Universities and ITs? I would not have expected that. Please don't personalise it by attacking/interrogating me. It is just something I have noticed and would like to understand why.

CIT students come mainly from social housing.

So you open your thread with an attack on the poorer students and appeal not to be attacked.
    As regards understanding, please.

Why don't you ask these students yourself if you want to understand?

You'd think you'd have figured it out by now.

Went to both, one for undergrad and other for masters and in ucc there’s a bit of pressure on the female side to be dressed up to the nines and the latest trends.... friends who went to both said similar that the latest fashions are important in ucc

    Drive past both daily.
There's seems to be a lot more tracksuit/leisure pants on CIT students. Maybe they just give less of a fcuk.

It's rarely someone would admit to perving young students. Do you pull in to some cul de sac then for some "me" time

Went to both briefly during my truculent teenage years. CIT definitely has a more working class profile and has a significant majority of male students compared to UCC which is pretty much evenly split (maybe even female majority?) While the majority of UCC are normal enough you do get the local yaw-yaw set going there which would be pretty much absent from CIT.

All in all people in both gaffs were generally sound (I found CIT students were easier for me slightly to relate to) but there's a strata of UCC crowd who're a pain in the hole.

UCC is overall "posher"- that's about it really. CIT does a lot of hands-on courses like mechanic and electrician training. Fees are lower in CIT too.

So the income imbalance no doubt evens out somewhat as both bodies of students graduate.

UCC came up with the kiddie porn serverity scale - not sure they should drawing too much attention to themselves.

I don't know but there's an outside possibility the BBus in Recreation and Leisure Management or BBus (Hons) in Sport and Exercise degree courses in CIT might be in some way related to the number of tracksuit/leisure pants wearing students.

Just giving reasons for the difference (UCC being "posher") as per the OP. Not looking down on CIT. Couldn't care less where anyone goes to college. If doing a night course now, I would choose CIT any day as it is much more affordable for pretty much the same course in UCC.

BTW, I meant that in a positive way!

I went to UCC - I was neither physically attractive, fit or well-dressed.

I do remember CIT christmas had to be cancelled because of the carry on it attracted back when I was there or something? Maybe I'm not recalling it right, it was a long time ago.

Is this only limited to Cork? UL vs LIT? UCD vs DCU?
