    Hi all,

Just wondering has anyone any experience of Zyle Fenster aluclad windows? Just haven't been able to find anything in boards mentioning them.

We had been thinking PVC for budget but have a lot of very large windows and sliders and are finding that only the alu-clad can accommodate these without a lot of ugly breaks. If there's any other window providers who are good for large scale windows and doors, would appreciate any other recommendations too please. Have prices in from Rationale already too but they can't accommodate our sliders.

Replies by PM please so I don't get in trouble, thanks a mil :)

    three observations.
1: aluclad can be problematic in our humid climate, especially in exposed locations.
2: Have you done a weight calculation for the sliders: all very well when you are all young and strong and no issues with lower back/shoulders.

Quality of rolling gear is crucial.

You have to ask yourself: how many times will our weather allow you to slide
...................................: why do R not do them
    ....................................: Also you have MVHR.....
3: Have you addressed, and catered for ,solar gain issues with all this glazing

    Where are you based?

We ended up going for a mix of PVC for all main windows and aluminium for the large slider and a large feature window on an extension.

My brother installed a large 3m aluclad slider through a large Cork manufacturer and his wife cannot open it so be careful. The weight of it is ridiculous.

Can we avoid discussing manufactured on thread. See forum charter for info. Thanks

Thanks for the input. I've read various posts from both perspectives on this on boards and other forums and places. Made the call to proceed with this if we can afford it after considering all arguments.

We have a normal glass door between the two sliders for convenience going in and out. Have also tried a few large sliders at various home shows and are happy enough with the weight. We are probably going to split the 5m door into 4 panes, 2 fixed and 2 central sliding back.

Will have MVHR. Glass is facing west. Going to see how it feels and have various shading things in mind if we need it from an extending canopy to a pergola or deciduous trees. Will see if we have problems with overheating before we decide on that.

Thanks for the feedback. We'll do another gander round about weight but so far based on trying various sliders at home shows it hasn't been a problem. We have our normal glass door between the two sliders for convenience anyway. Hoping this will also reduce wear and tear on the sliders and help keep the seals, rollers etc in good shape for longer.
