I'm kind of looking for an upgrade to Q7 or X5. Since X5 is a bit more familiar what should I keep an eye on with Q7 is there any spec it might be missing when compared to and X5 M Sport with standardish spec? Or should I aim at cars with certain packages that are especially worth having? Was supprised that the Q7 I test drove today didn't have the electronic adjustment of the steering wheel. Are there different versions of infotainment they put in these cars ? I'm looking at 2016/17 272bhp models only.

with a lot of those cars you can order a variety of options.

    1) Heated seats - a lot of dealers don't upsell these and you'd be surprised at how many just don't have it .
    2) Lumbar support in seats - normally denotes higher trim level anyway, should be on the seat controls themselves .
    3) Auto dim rear mirror, should be standard but you'd be surprised.
    4) On the BMW look for Harmon Kardon Audio (should be written on speakers) on the Audi I think its still Bang & Olufsen but Im open to correction there, the better sound system usually only comes with the upgraded navigation system etc...
    5) Double check that the bluetooth system allows audio streaming , this is an option on some models and yet again may surprise you that its missing.

Didn’t you just import a 5 series Bmw and then have an issue with the license plate being screwed into the body?
    Are you getting rid already?

I did and I love it but my heart was always with a bigger SUV.

If you’re trading in the car you just bought it will be interesting to see what trade in the garages will offer you.
Don’t think they will do you any favours.

I bet they will not, however I'm keeping an open mind. I drove the 270ish bhp Q7 and found it fantastic to drive. So much so that XC90 does not excite me as much as it did before that test drive.

I do admit I had no understanding of all the YT reviewers praising the 3l diesel over the 2l in the 5 series but I wasn't "into cars" the way I am today, I probably be content with my current car but with a bigger engine. Ofcourse its a want not a need situation...

I consider it to be a good project to have, if it comes to fruition then happy days ;)
