Is it just me or do these Models seem to depreciate worse than their equivalent diesel models.

i see a 2017 530e msport advertised for 48k with the new price quoted at 78k.

    Also fantastic value in 330e `s .2017 for 33k

Has to be said Merc c350 hybrids are also good value.

With all the Hybrid rage now surely these are very diserable or are people put off (like me ) of the plug in requirement.?

My opinion is they’re token cars from BMW to be in the hybrid game while there’s such change ongoing in the automotive industry and depreciation will reflect that. The range is not enough to make someone want to buy one second hand enough down the road.

The price quoted would most likely be 78k before the grant and reliefs of 7.5k.
I don’t think they really lose any more than other premium cars though.
I bought a 9 month old 520d touring from a Bmw dealer with 2.5k miles in March that retail was 80k and paid just over 50k.
They just all lose a shed load of money in the first couple of years.
The low value of sterling is the main reason for a lot of this and the hybrids attract very little vrt when you import so are great value as an import which in turn reduce the Irish value for them.

I looked at 330e prices in uk against diesel equivalents and they're much the same.
All losing a huge whack of money.
Could be sitting in a 2016 3 series sport model for low 20s euro now inc VRT.
    Low mileage too

Bill Griffin has a **** load of ex UK 330Es for sale. The low specs and mileage would suggest they are ex lease.

He does indeed. 10 of them. Might be over to him they are priced quite well. Is Bill known to accept a bit of a haggle??

Not sure to be honest but he doesn't have a good reputation for after sales service for sure. In saying that he is around along time and tends to shift alot of stock.

Out of curiosity, can you use one just as hybrid and dont plug in every time? 30k for high spec 250hp petrol beemer sounds like a good value, its just someone like me would not have ability to charge it at home.

Yes you can. It will fully charge battery by driving it.
There's some clever stuff in them but won't get diesel economy by using it as hybrid only without plugging in. Even plugging in it depends on your driving type.

Yep they're the 2 alright. Wouldn't mind which of them either.
    I'd gladly pay a premium for m-sport.

On the X5 I believe you can recharge it if you are able to drive in the most optimal way to help recharging of the battery - is it practical to achieve I'm not so sure. Once the battery is empty it's just the matter of you being ok with higher fuel consumption I guess due to driving around whatever kgs the battery pack weighs. I would probably be fine with that...

That is actually very cheap! Whats the catch? Even if just looking at it as a petrol with good enough power.
Obviously his finance does not look very competitive though.

Any reliability issues or known problems?

No catch, they just depreciate a lot because PCP on new ones seems so attractive. And STG devaluation. And they've low enough electric only capability so people see them as petrol only.

But I've driven them, they're a nice car. I'm currently torn between one of these, maybe a year older 5 series or a few years older again 6 series, all in the 20-25k price range.

I'd just be wary of their actual condition given the low prices, stuff photos won't show. That dealer holds a lot of stock and apparently they don't spend much on presenting cars for resale and tends to rack and stack them, similar to Al Hayes in Portumna. He is around long enough to know that if they were worth more he would be asking more.

    That's some money for a 520 carsfan ! But I take your point .

Yeah a launch model with all the option packs and a few more bits. Crazy money new alright.
My point is though all these premium cars lose value substantially in the first couple of years and the low value of sterling has exaggerated this drop.

The tech on the hybrids though is evolving rapidly and range will improve with every new model making current models less desirable I suppose.

55,000 miles on a 2 year old petrol hybrid is quiet a lot, one reason why the price is what it is.

It's because they are m sport models it's not lower. There are sport and SE models with under 20k miles for less from same dealer. One of them has only 8k miles on it
