Maximum mileage on a Mercedes Sprinter / VW Crafter?

How high is too high for mileage on these?

I'm looking at a few at the moment, and several that are reasonably priced are around the 300,000km mark.

One van in particular that I like has 370,000km on it.

A mechanic would be looking at the van before purchase to ensure everything was ok, but is the mileage still too high?

What years are you looking at? It's not so much the engines but the chassis on these. Most stuff 5+ years old is usually fairly rusty, particularly at higher mileages. If it drives well and there's no signs of rust, you'd get that kind of mileage again out of one if you keep it serviced. The 2.0 in the VW's are fairly reliable in them, don't know if there's a different engine in the Mercs?

Since 2013 the sprinter has been galvanised, the 2.1 ltr 651 engine is a good one and very reliable but woth anything at that mileage service history is key. If it has it and its good id consider it but if not i wouldnt, its a gamble. The sprinter are bullet proof IF you look after them.

If the sprinter are the 3.0 v6, 642 engine even better, they go forever.

Wouldn't be a major fan of the crafter and reliability is not up there with the mercedes of the last 5 years. They were built by Mercedes up until the new model came out but the engine and gearbox was different and not on par with the mercedes
