    Hey guys,

Looking for some discussion or help in this topic

Living in Cork City with Virgin Media 240 package.

When Siro becomes available, we would look at going with the equivalent package. However, on a technical level, is there any difference?
On a real world answer would we notice any difference between Virgin broadband or Siro? both appear to be FTH.

There are 6 people in the house currently.

If its actually virgin FTTH then the differences would be minimal. Virgin FTTH is rare as of yet in Ireland though and lots is "fibre powered" EURODOCSIS or internet over TV cable. In that comparison SIRO would be significantly better for gamers but practically on par for average users.

ah yes this explains where I was hitting a brick wall when comparing.

So in reality, Virgin is still using the cable system. If this were the case, I am right in saying it should floor the ping times to single digits? That being the main draw to switch...?

Yeah, lower latency. Additionally virgin are clinging to hardware that spikes to 150ms latency every 90s despite knowing its flawed. Long term this will likely change but the current comparison is a stable 9-12ms vs 20ms that spikes constantly to 150ms. Sub par.

For many the TV product will be the decider.

This has been amazing. Thank you, 100% will go for the Siro then. No one watching cable Tv except for some IPTV streams for Croatian and spanish channels.
