Lookingfor advice for brother. He is planning on taking over the farming on his father in laws farm next year. 90 acres . Dry cattle. He is just finishing the green cert now. The father in law is happy to finish active farming but does not want to give away ownership yet to his daughter. Whats the best way to work it. Nominal lease ,a new herd number, transfer of herd no . What about bfp.??

Would your brother try doing a partnership first?? It can be a way of easing them both into it....

Tell the father oin n law to Call in to teagasc or an advisor, to see what his options are. Would say lease it but I think the tax free element doesn't work with family. Communication is key in all these things anyway
