Looking for some advice, going to have to put new tyres on my car soon looking at the following

    https://www.tyreleader.ie/car-tyres-245-45-18-96/?sp%5B1%5D=on

There is a big price difference between top and bottom. Worth spending extra ?

Worth spending more than what the cheapest ones are but not necessarily worth buying the most expensive ones either.

What car is is, what size are they, and how many do you need

What tyres are on it now and how do you find them?

Its a BMW 5 series 2014. They are Continental "Contisport" tyres and I find them good and they stick to the road well but then in my last car a toyota avensis I found the chinese tires I got reasonably fine too.

I have run flat tires and Im also considering whether just to get standards and carry a can of tire weld if I get a puncture. In all my years motoring 15 years+ I have never got a puncture... Maybe I'm just lucky though.

What do like about the BMW compared to the Toyota that you decided to buy one. Comfort, handling etc?

Yeah comfort + handling but I know for sure if I'd of put 150-200 euro tires on the avensis it wouldn't have made an appreciable difference.

Is the difference going to be 5%, 10%, 20%? I'm wondering if there are any benchmarking results of different tires.

    Are they run flats?

Have you been thinking of buying online on likes of oponeo, eiretyres etc and getting fintted?

Jimbis on boards is a mobile fitter and will look after you.

He can call out to house or work and fit for you.

South Dublin area he is in.

I plan to switch from my run flats to standard tyres on my F10 when the time comes. I will be going for Fulda Sport Control as they are a really, really quiet tyre, had them on my previous car and rate them very highly. If ditching your RF tyres then you will be gaining improved ride comfort, and a significant noise reduction over your Contis (68db v 71db)

I'm in the Midlands Athlone Longford direction

Anyone recommend someone who would fit tires if I bought online?

I'm pretty sure the tire place opposite Aldi in Athlone will fit tires that were purchased elsewhere.
The cost may not stack up though

I went with Vredestein Ultrac Satin the last time and find them good. From Camskill they would work out at around €115 per tyre delivered

Is it worth changing from run flats?
I see a few people saying it’s more “comfortable @ driving.
    What do ye recommend?

I just changed out from runflats on my E90 3 series.

For me it was more cost of replacements, an awful lot cheaper than replacing runflats and the road noise is a lot lower.

I plan on buying a spacesaver though just in case.

    They seem decent enough.

I have to get the alignment done as one of my front tires is rubbing and wearing unevenly. BMW quoted 120 to do a good job compared to generic places.

    Are they worth the premium?

If there is something rubbing then you need more than an alignment.

As for BMW being able to align a car any better than anywhere else, very much doubt it. I’d rather bring a car to a place that does alignment regularly than to a dealership where they might only do an alignment job occasionally.

An apprentice technician in a BMW dealership is no match for an experienced fellow in a local tyre centre.

No it’s not worth a premium.
