Raise the roof.

I have recently bought a 2 storey house. However the roof is kinda like a gambrel style only more slanted. Because of this there is a significant loss of floor space upstairs compared to downstairs.

My question is would it be possible to raise the roof to have the same floor space as downstairs? And if so what do I need to do and any idea of costs?

It is possible, but you will need an engineer to go to site and tell you if the existing structure is sound to build on. There will also be a planning application as you are changing the look of the house.
Only then can you guesstimate the cost.

Is there anyone who has had this done that could possibly give me some idea of costs. Thanks
