    Hi All,

Im thinking about purchasing a Leaf from Britain. I am hoping to pay the deposit on Monday and do the transfer next week

    A few queries I was hoping for help on;

What should I be asking the dealer?

    • It’s a 2014 Acenta, is that generation 1.5? is that a fast charge
    • In regards to charging the car over there, do I need anything for that
    • Is it easy to find charge points
    • Are there any export taxes to pay?
    • On arrival in Ireland, can I use the public charge points? Do I need anything for this?
    • Is there guidance on how to register it?
    • What is the cost of setting up a home charging point?

I know this is probably covered elsewhere so apologies

gen 1.5: Different boot shapes than gen 1. google the photos.
Fast charge: ask the dealer. If they don't have a clue ask for a photo of the charge port.
Plenty of threads on here about importing from the UK and how to charge over there. like: https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057584653
No export taxes, as it'll be under the €5000 VRT rebate.
In Ireland for charging just ring up ESB to activate whatever charger you want. Some people say any card with an RFID will work.
    To register: see above thread.
home charge points, not sure as I had mine done for the freebie.

    tip*
make sure car isn't on Flex(battery lease)
Get full V5 document from dealer.
Spend 30 quid and get the car checked out for outstanding finance or if its been crashed/stolen(you'd be surprised)

There should be two charge speeds in the display if the car has the 6.6 kW internal charger.

Once you have your car you need to contact the ESB to get a charge which will give you access to public chargers including Northern Ireland.
