    Hi Paddy,

Thank you for getting in touch.

Yes, this meter can be removed. We need to advise that there is a removal charge of approximately €200 for a Pay As You Go (PAYG) gas meter. This is payable to Gas Networks Ireland and is applicable no matter which provider the customer is with (the PAYG gas meter is universal and from Gas Networks Ireland).

To organise a PAYG gas meter removal for an Electric Ireland customer, contact Customer Service on 1850 372 372. They are open until 8pm Monday to Saturday (excluding public holidays).

If you have any other questions, please let us know.

    Best regards,
    Una

I assume it is a pay as you go meter. I got rid of the PAYG meter a couple of years ago. If memory serves me right, it cost about €200 to have reverted. The supplier does not do the reversion. It is done by Gas Networks Ireland. I think the supplier makes the arrangements. As far as I can remember the charge is added to your first bill pay invoice. Check with Electric Ireland.
€200 for literally 15 minutes works is easy pickings. But reverting to Bill Pay saved me money in the long run.
