Hi. I’m thinking about buying myself an Omega watch. Has anyone managed to negotiate a decent discount with any Irish dealers for this or similar brands?

If I could get close to grey market offerings I’d prefer to support a local business, but it looks like a long shot.

    All comments well.

You'll get very little lee way with Irish sellers.

I bought an Omega in the canaries 2 years ago (AD, did my homework in advance), saved myseld 25% on the price I would have paid here.

If you're travelling that way soon DM me and I'll send you details.

Also look at the likes of Chrono24 and Watchfinder to see what kind of deal you can get.

Looking at the latest 41mm Aqua Terra. Not really into dive watches etc.
Love the sporty/dressy mix and the size is perfect for me.
Haven’t decided on particular color or strap.
Following several sellers on Chrono24. Pity the market here is so small.

With the horizontal teak effect? I admired a few especially the below through the window in an AD while on holidays. Looks very nice in a blue rubber strap.

I have an older version ( not even 4 years old but I think the model has changed twice since). In that version I found the 41mm wears a little large but it’s proportions are a little better than the 39mm

So 41mm that wears big but well proportioned vs
The 39 which wears better but is slightly too thick IMO.

Not sure if the thickness has changed for more recent versions.

Close to 20% should be available locally. Worth a trip or call to the north to see what that can do while the gbp is on its ass!

Yes the current model with the horizontal lines. I like the blue strap too.
Early days so only looking but seeing the discounts the Americans claim to get makes me weep!

If You buy in Spain AD you will get a great deal. But don't declare it on the way back otherwise you will get sting for tax and duty. Wear the watch and either ship the box and papers back or stick it in your wifes/friends suitcase. Walk out separate to each other through customs.

There would be no tax or duty owed on any watch purchased within the EU.

There Is if you buy in any if the canary islands. I know this because I declared one on entry and got stung for tax and duty. The canary islands are excluded

The Canary Islands are a special zone and not subject to normal VAT or duties.
Same with Gibraltar and Channel Islands, they are considered external to the EU.
The advice to purchase is Spain is good and mainland Spain no duty or VAT would apply on return.
Your advice re: The Canaries is also valid, if purchasing there often the dealer will offer to post the box back.

Good to know all this. Thanks for replies!

Mad the price differential on chrono24 for a brand new Aqua Terra (3,000 - 3,600 approx) and (for e.g) Dawson Jeweler in Dublin. An older model there is currently retailing at 6,500.

Yes, I couldn’t justify buying local at those differentials.

Tried on the silver face with orange second hand today in Keane's in Cork. Both steel and rubber strap. Savage.

The prices in Ireland are ridiculous in my opinion. I don't mind spending a decent amount of case on a watch but it makes me sick to see how cheap you can purchase elsewhere.

Just another note of recommendation for the AD in the Canaries, they were fine to deal with when I got my Seamaster
