How much could I get for my car? Looking to upgrade so just wondering where do I stand in terms of deposit/budget.

    It's a 2009 BMW 318D Silver M sport.

Has full BMW service history and is on 80'000 Miles.
    NCT till Jul'19.
    It's M sport alcantara version

Would I be better off selling privately or trading in (if it was even accepted for trade in) ?

Also my front bumper is scratched, would it be worth investing in repainting it or would it not justify sale increase?

If your trading it in then how much you get for it will depend on the value of the car your trading it against. But the important figure when trading in is the cost to change price. It's easy to give a higher trade in price for your car if the dealer prices his car high.

Your best bet financially is always to sell privately as most dealers are not going to resell a nearly 10 year old car on their forecourt as there just isn't enough money in it for them. They will want to offer less than it's trade value as it will most likely be sold onto small or part time dealers who will sell it on easier. If selling privately then have a look at similar cars on the likes of donedeal.ie though it's not an applied science either as some sellers can ask silly money for their cars and it doesn't mean they will get it.

Regarding the scratch, it's up to you. You could have a body shop look at a smart repair but that may not be possible and requires the entire bumper resprayed which could cost you around €200/€300. You may not get that back on the selling price though given it's age.

Will you be getting another BMW? As your car is BMW serviced, perhaps check with the garage how much would you'd get for your car if you traded it in.
This has more miles, and being sold for €12,950 (by a BMW dealer), so you may get €7,000 off your next car, if you're buying a BMW from a BMW dealer.

That should be up for 10 and with a bit of haggling go for 8.

BMW dealers are not known for being charitable, I'd say they would rather let it sit and rot.

Be impossible to insurance it in another couple of years due to its age.
