Dog broke teeth in the vets

    Hi,

Our dog was booked in for neutering and a single baby tooth extraction today in the vets.
    He's a 1 year old maltease / shih tzu.
About an hour after he was left in the vets rang to say he broke 4 of his own teeth but he's ok and they will sort it out.

This seems very strange to me as he is used to beeing in a cage and infact slept in one for while when he was younger and never had an issue
He also doesn't have separatation anxiety.

I wasn't talking to the vet as I'm just home but does this seem normal and should it of happened?

I would imagine a lot of force needed for a dog to break their 4 of their own teeth or maybe I'm over thinking it?

How are they going to sort out broken teeth?!

He broke four teeth while at the vet or they found them already broken?

Have you been giving the dog weight bearing bones or deer antler chews?

LOL :D (That ad sets Bailey MAD).. But seriously - broken teeth on a young dog - I'm assuming all they can do is take them out? My guy has teeth (and in fairness jaw) missing and it affects how he eats and drinks etc and everyone always stops to ask how he broke them etc etc.

They said they will sort them out as the teeth were broke below the gum line , I think it involves making sure the area wont get infected.

No they didn't just find them, they claim he broke them while in the kennel waiting to go in to surgery.
They said that his head might of got stuck in the bars and he panicked...

No he has never had bones or deer antler chews , just chew toys afaik

poor fella is feeling very sorry for himself now, 5 missing teeth and a set of balls i can't say i blame him!
