    Hi,
My laptop seems to have broken after just over a year so I am wondering what my rights are. It was a middle of the road laptop but the motherboard seems to be broken out of the blue. It didn't fall or anything so do not know why this happened.
Can I bring it back to the Harvey Norman etc. Do not want to for out another €400 for a laptop.

What exactly happens when you try to turn it on?

And tell us what laptop it is, make and model. Generally speaking, electronics should have a 2 year warranty. So you should be able to return it to Harveynorman's and get them to repair it if there is a hardware issue. That being said, they may be reluctant to do this straight off the bat, there might be a bit of back and forth trying to get them to play ball.
