I am thinking of treating myself to a designer handbag. Not a €1000+ Mulberry or anything but a few hundred. Was looking at this

Anyone have suggestions on other bags I could look at as introduction to designer bags. Have it sit among my Penneys bags :-)

House of Fraser have a good handbag studio and often have good reductions, it'd be well worth a visit to see a lot of different styles & options in the flesh.

What will you be using the bag for? Everyday work/going out? Do you need it to carry a laptop or tablet or shoes? Think about sizing.

Hello .  I do like the bag you have picked out,  not too fussy.
Can I make a suggestion, shop around for handmade leather bags, kinsale leather have beautiful ones, as do holden leather  in Dingle,
    www.kinsaleleather.com
    https://holdenleathergoods.com/
I've a few designer bags , mulberrys, chanel, ysl etc and have moved back to getting well made bags. I used to buy into the whole hype of designer bags, gave my marc jacobs away as the weight of it alone was ridiculous.
The most recent one I purchased was from Sezane, they will never date and are far more eye catching.
Another brand that I enjoy is longchamp, depending on what size you need , their Pliage in leather (cuir) will stand the test of time. The ones I have are a little on the large size, but I travel a lot and pop everything into them, there are smaller ones to I believe.
These are just some ideas , another one if you are looking for leather, try tk maxx. they sometimes have nice finds, you will need patience, but you could be lucky. i like the bag you have picked out, again not too fussy.

Best of luck with it, but as the previous poster advised, do you know what you want it to do, everyday, going out, laptop. kitchen sink, .... the list is endless :)

@pinkypinky @cailineile Thank you for your replies.
This will be a day bag (fancy day bag). Does not need to be big enough to carry a laptop, just the usuals phone wallet, makeup topups, tissues, kitchen sink :-)

I will definitely take a look at Kinsale and Holden leather. Support local if you can. Interesting comments on designer bags and the hidden downside to them, e.g weight. Maybe I am just getting carried away with marketing/hype of having a designer bag........wouldn't be the first time I fall foul of that!

You can filter the bags on Brown Thomas's website by price and just browse for ideas.

Nice bag, but I'd be slow to buy one where I can't see photos of the inside. Some bags don't have pockets big enough for my latest phone - wide enough but not deep enough.

Also, for a long term investment a swede flap would be hard to keep looking good.

Kildare Village have a number of bag shops including Mulberry! My favourite there for reasonable prices is the Coach one, but there are several others.
