Car suitable for car play - double din

I'm looking for a new (used) car, probably a hatch type because we have a mutt.

I want something comfortable, coming from the old car we have. I'll be driving it the most so looking for a nice driving position and the likes of cup holders etc.

My one *real* condition is I want to put a car play stereo into it, so I need a double din opening available to me with no display restrictions. By that I mean the radio display isn't also the AC display etc.

Also out are the types of cars that have integrated or custom radio fittings, so the likes of the fluence are gone.

Budget limits me to something between 2008 & 2011.

    Any suggestions?

Is it really a good idea to buy a car based on that? Im sure you'd get the thing in by hook or by crook into any car if you really wanted to.

Tis a bit like buying a house because it has a space for a built in microwave.. or a superser

I don't think it's that bad a reason. Particularly if it will be a long distance/ commuter car, infotainment when you are in the car for hours on end is reasonably important.

VAG group stuff springs to mind, or at least anything Skoda or VW in that age bracket will have a double din space and infinite aftermarket head unit options.

You'd never retrofit it into a car that doesn't have a double din space really.

You won't get a double din into anything if the space isn't there for it.

I'd call it a good idea too. My next vehicle will have Android Auto and it will be absolute number one requirement on the list when I'm choosing.
