The SVP acted on a (falsified?) hardship appeal to enable someone to further their education but was coned into issuing the payment to the individual rather than the educational institution.

The adult in question basically looks like he robbed a poor box after boasted about it on social media.

    Stupid is as stupid does.

Hard to see how SVP could have acted any better.

Svdp should have made the cheque out to the college and not the kind.

Absolute naievity and stupidity by them not to

I might be off but I do know when some charities help people with stuff. The person receiving the donation wouldn't want everybody knowing the SVP paid for it so they'd give the money to the person directly.

When I was at college I did a small thing helping students access finance. It was sort of through the students union.
You'd have lots of people struggling and afraid to ask for help either through the state or via charity. They were ashamed of anybody finding out they received this kind of help.

Personally I think it depends on the person. Certain people are ashamed of asking for help and support they may be entitled to because of the stigma attached to it in my experience. I'm only 28 so I'm not ancient.
There is of course people out there and they'll take, take, take.

They sure are. They fall for any sob story.
I know a waster who claimed his fridge was not working. Got a cheque for Power City from SVP.
    Flogged the fridge
