    Hi all,

Holly grove Kennels in Newcastle County Dublin. Has anybody had experience with them. Going away for a 2 weeks and I need to book the 2 lads in somewhere.

    Thanks,
    Daniel.

    Hi
I just got my Jack Russell back last week from them
Lovely guys to deal with and our dog wasn’t freaked out like she was in other kennels she was in.
€100 for the week, bring their own food and any beds or toys they like

Thanks for the reply. I’ve seen some great reviews online but I’ve also seen some poor ones as well. First time putting them in Kennels so I want to make sure they’re going to a good place.

I wouldn't be a fan of kennels in general as it the wrong environment for my dogs.. Why have your dogs in jail when they can be in a home boarders house.. but sawdust in the runs and the choke chains in some of the pics would be a definite no no for me.

We used to use Hollygrove for our Saint. First time he went he could not get out of there quick enough. Second time I had to drag him from the car when I was dropping him off and again he dashed for the car on pick up. When I got him home I was rubbing him and noticed talc on my hands but didn't think much of it as the groomers would use talc so maybe they brushed him. About an hour later I noticed spots of blood on the floor of the kitchen, I knew it wasn't from me so I started checking him. Sure enough there was a blood on his shoulder. I brought him to the vet and he had to shave the area. There was a bite mark, the vet assumed from a JRT or similar sized dog, that by the looks of the infection was a few days old. They had cleaned it with antiseptic and then tried to cover it up. Said vet at the time was the vet for Hollybrook's horses and he used to do call outs if required for animals in kennels. He said he was not called out to my fella, so they had tried to fix it in house. He needed an antibotic injection and tablets for a week. Had a shaved spot on his shoulder and Hollybrook denied all knowledge of the situation. Claimed he must have got bitten after I picked him up.

We then started going to Woofys on the Clane road. He LOVED them, he would get excited when we were driving in, and go to Niamh for cuddles on pick up. I used to have to drag him out of the place. Not sure if it is close to you but I would recommend them 100%!!!

We have used Hollygrove many times over the last few years for our 35kg rottie cross and she loves the place. Happy to get out of the car when we get there, happy to go into a stable. She was there just last week and even though she knew we were there, she wasnt in any hurry to get into the car.
