Is it possible to stain a pine banister and newel posts to look like oak? Gonna paint the spindles white. We can't really afford to buy a new stairs. We are changing the pine doors and buying oak doors

Not sure about the staining but as a cheap alternative to total replacement, paint the newel posts and handrails and replace the spindles with oak ones.
