    Hi,
Could someone enlighten me as to why our house has an earth border around the base of the outside wall? Is this a normal thing or should I look to get rid of this? I only ask as it seems to be riddled with woodlice at night.
    Thanks for your help,
    DrF

Unfortunately not :] It's only maybe 10cm wide and not right outside the front / back doors obviously. Thoughts at all?

    Any chance of pictures?

Is there a possibility that it's a defunct flowerbed?

Sounds like a potential moisture ingress location!

Will take some later. I’m basically trying to understand if it has a use as if not I want to get rid of it. It’s quite narrow for a flowerbed but I’ll wait for opinions after I post some photos.

Thanks for the replies so far!

have you dug that out? it may not be deep. could be very shallow.

Id fill it with river stone tbh make it look neater.

Haven’t tried yet to be honest. Do you mean loose fill the dug out trench with something like this (https://www.bakerross.ie/river-pebbles?&gclid=Cj0KCQjwz93cBRCrARIsAEFbWsjHZ11HC2ZrSHvuuTvc-3qngafPhvI8EhMSI9XFnAZfi7b-03BIprwaAnM5EALw_wcB) ?

Sorry to bump this thread, just wondering if there were any more opinions out there before I go digging :)

    Thanks for the advice
