First off I am a meat eater, but interested in trying this new non meat burger as I always found the other imitation products disgusting

So does anyone know if this product can be bought in Dublin?

It sounds good, let us know if you find out more. I especially like the idea that there's no soy protein.

It was planned for UK release recently but is just sold out everywhere in other countries so that was delayed, they will be getting it before us so it could be a bit of time. Their sausages are also supposed to be good. It's a pity as I've been in London all week and wanted to try them out.

Try Iceland supermarket for the "no bull" burgers, they are quite nice.

A timely reminder why it could be a good idea to give beyond meat, and other vegan options, a try -

Yeah, interesting. And it wasn't just eating out, but supermarket meat too. I wonder does that also include your meat you buy in supermarket butchers? Perhaps.

Very telling of a corrupted food supply chain. And exposes the lie of consumer choice.

Highlights the importance of well managed food supply from farm to fork. Can happen locally as well however once food becomes distanced from source or imported from abroad the chances that foodstuffs become modified / contaminated with other foodstuffs are increased. And its not only meat btw - even though that seems to seem to suit certain agendas in this instance...

Some other adulterated products relevant to this forum ...

Apparently there's lots of other food stuffs which are not what they appear

Of course there is always the risk of deliberate contamination by the small number of extremists etc or others intent on damaging reputation or causing offence to vegans as well as those eating a normal mixed diet.

A case of the buyer beware and buy local and traced foodstuffs where possible ..

Avoiding highly processed mass-market products is possibly the best advice for any diet imo.

From the Beyond Meat Faq page
Our products are made from 100% plant-based inputs such as proteins from peas, faba beans, and soy. .

Some of their products do appear to use soy.

I'm not terrifically keen on stuff that tries to imitate meat - I know there's the 'transition food' argument - but I look at 'facon' and fake 'cheese' this way: if it didn't exist in the first place, would a vegan invent it?

Think about it this way: if nobody ever had seen or eaten a beefsteak, why invent a copy of it?

To be honest, I do like to try these things but plant-based eating, as close to the original as possible and desirable, should be enough and usually is.

As a keen meat eater its refreshing to see that post..
Why process the hell out of something that in itself should be a healthy nutritious food, just to imitate something you have ethical problems with existing in the first place, its hard to understand.

Every process action on fruit/veg detracts from it, obviously some processing is required to make many palatable, but it should be minimised to preserve the water and heat sensitive vitamins etc
