    Put a recurring weekly 30 minutes on his calendar where you update him on your work and get feedback and direction. Snatching 15 minutes here and there is less effective.

    this might be frustrating but it can actually be a good thing , take the initiative and start managing yourself .
    As you progress in an organisation this becomes more common place and being able to self manage is an important skill.
