08 Accord fault code help - "PGM FI"?

    I bought a 2008 (08 up newer model) accord last Thursday. After 3 days, it suddenly died in power and the fault "PGM FI" showed up on the dash. When my mechanic checked the fault code it showed "126D". I can't find any details of this code online.

    After letting it sit for a half hour it drove home ok and has been ok this morning.

    Any ideas what the issue could be.

    It was idling for about 10 mins just before it happened and its when I revved high the fault came up.

    You sir, are a legend! I'm guessing having the car ticking over for 10 mins before probably caused the problem. I checked the temp gauge on the dash when it happened and it was at normal so I'd guess its the engine temp sensor thats knackered?

    It could be that but I'd do some more diagnosis before leaping into buying a sensor.
    If you could get a proper HDS hooked up to it it may tell you more, not all scanners will pull proper codes off Honda engines.
    Unusual enough to find a Petrol one, vast majority of Gen 8 were Diesel.

    It's a diesel alright. Mechanic using laptop read the fault and reset it so I guess I have to wait until it comes back and bring it to a main dealer who'd have the proper HDS. Or would anyone know someone in the Midlands/Galway area who could do it?

    Have you changed the coolant? Its worth doing as the coolant loses its additives over time, Honda Type 2 coolant isn't that expensive I think you need just under 7 litres.

    Defective Engine Thermostat
    Defective Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor
    Defective Intake Air Temperature Sensor
    Defective Cooling System
    Low Engine Coolant
    Dirty Engine Coolant, causing incorrect Coolant Temperature Sensor readings
    Defective, always running Engine Cooling fan(s)

    The coolant temp sensor is 30 quid, so I think I might get that changed along with all the coolant which has to be drained anyway to fit it. That would leave the engine thermostat or air intake sensor. Had a look this morning and seen the cable running to the coolant sensor had been messed with (protective slieve was removed) so now I'm nervous.
