So I got the dreaded air bag light the other day on my 04 A4. I have been trying to get someone to take a look at it to get it sorted but to no avail. Does anybody on here know of a good Audi mechanic preferably in north Dublin but I will travel ! It’s showing code 01218 airbag igniter!

Hope someone can help thanks !

It's worth checking the basics first such as the airbag connector underneath the passenger seat incase it's become loose. Rear passengers stretching their legs under the front seat and kicking the connector is common.

Anyone with VCDS should be able to scan and turn off the airbag, as mentioned check the connections under seats.

What was the exact fault code ? Was it a resistance too high/low or a short to ground/positive fault ? If it's resistance then chances are unplugging and cleaning the connectors will clear it with a reset.

I’ve tried the connector on the floor but I have done some research on this and I believe there is another one under the seat. To be honest I don’t want to be playing with it anymore as I’m afraid something will happen so I’d rather get it fixed by someone who knows what they are doing !

I just used a basic scanning tool and it said fault 01218 passenger side airbag igniter. It didn’t mention anything about the resistance etc. So I’m going to get it looked at hopefully this week!!!
