Im buying a g&p magpul moe. It says that a 7.4v lipo should be preferrably used. However will it still shoot with a NiMh battery connected? And does the preferred voltage really matter ie. 7.4v?

You are fine to use Nimh batteries.
    Both 8.4 and 9.6v.
    Personally I prefer lipo batteries.
