    Hi
Posted this in the detailing forum but no response
    This is bugging me!
This scratching/ mark “appeared “ on the paintwork in the last 24 hours.
Don’t know how/what caused it. I’d like to get it sorted ASAP.

I’m hoping it can be polished out, could anyone recommend someone in Limerick to take a look at it for me.

    Ta

Where precisely is the scratch in the photo and what part of the vehicle is it located on?

Look to the centre right of the photo. There is a grey haze, where it looks like maybe a child has "coloured in" with a stone. This is more than a scratch in a normal sense.

OP, this does look to be relatively light, although the photos make it hard to tell. If you run your fingernail over the surface can you feel the scratch? If it is deep then it will have to be resprayed, but if it is very light it can be polished out.

    Hi
It’s on the bottom section of the drivers door, that’s what’s kinda baffling how it got there.
It looks almost like someone rubbed it with wire wool.

The “scratching “ or rubbing is very light, you can’t feel it to touch.
If I run a damp cloth over it, it’s almost invisible then it dries out again to the scratches.

You should be able to polish it out so, if you run water over it and it disappears then it should just be a layer of the clear coat thats damaged.

Polishing won't be of much benefit if the paintwork is damaged and it looks very much as if it is. Try O'Curry Street Garage.

That's been done by a cars bumper
What you need is rubbing compound which you can pick up from Halfords

Realistically probably a machine to polish to get it right.

It has in me hole. It looks like that was done with sandpaper. There's no chance that was another cars bumper - it's too precise and there's no way another car would leave that kind of mark

What did you decide to do?

    So..
I was recommended a crash repairs guy here in Limerick who is a specialist in car restoration (allegedly! ) also.
I showed him the car there this morning, he reckons that a kid scratched it with a small stone or similar!!(quite possible)
Only the lacquer on the paint is rubbed /scratched.
He's going to clean and Polish it for me next week,
I'll report back then with a photo!
