Help With Tethering and Sharing

I tether my laptop to my phone via USB

However I wish to share the net connection with a TV box I have via ethernet connection from my laptop but I'm having trouble getting it to share

So tether my laptop to my phone via USB and then connect the laptop and TV box via ethernet

I'm using Windows 10 on the laptop

What phone is it? You can probably just turn on the portable hotspot and connect to it wirelessly on all devices but let us know the phone and we'll tell you what needs to be done.

You are trying to bridge from the ethernet port to the USB port so you will need some form of bridging software. It would be much simpler to do it over wireless. If your TV doesn't support wireless you can get an adapter like the sky on demand connector.

Hi thank you both

I am using a Huawei P8 Lite 2017 phone

The TV box is a Tiviar Alpha+ Plus Triple Tuner running Openvix

It doesn't have an inbuilt WiFi reciever hence my thoughts on wiring to the ethernet port

I tried simply Tethering the phone to the Tiviar like with my laptop but it wouldn't let me activate the usb Tethering on the phone when connected to the TV box directly

So I'm looking into this round about way at the moment as the only net connection I have is from my phone and 4G

So if I get a WiFi adapter for the TV box I'm still stuck as I need to get a net connection to the box to download supported drivers

Can you not share your WiFi to the laptop and then share that WiFi connection with over Ethernet to the box?

- Press Windows key + X to open the Power User menu and select Network Connections.

- Right-click the network adapter with an Internet connection (Ethernet or wireless network adapter), then select Properties.

- Click Sharing.

- Put a check mark on Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s Internet connection.

- From the Home networking connection drop-down menu, select the Microsoft Hosted Virtual Adapter.

- Click OK to finish.

There are devices you can buy that will bridge the Wifi Connection to an ethernet connection which can then be hardwired to the tv

They are fairly easy to set up
