How to remove water filter tap

Hey...been putting off this job for a long while but I've got a dripping tap(although I have it turned off so it doesn't drip all the time).Anyway I went at removing it today but I'm not sure how it comes off the sink. I loosened off a nut underneath but that just seemed to hold the water pipe into place.
It's in a very awkward place to access so I can't really see what to do. Wondering if I should pull out the whole sink.

The lower nut is the water connection and the upper nut is just for securing the tap to the sink.

With water off, undo the water pipe from the tap and try to open the upper nut. If you can't get it open, try twisting the tap body on the sink anti clockwise by hand with a cloth to get better grip, it might just be enough to loosen the nut and then undo the underside nut.

Although that won't be of much benefit unless you're replacing it, sometimes the tap spindle and spout can be removed and washers changed without removing the whole unit from the sink. It's not clear from the pic if that is the case with your particular tap

    Turn off the water first

If there is a valve in line to that Tap just that off no need for whole water.

Then take off the centre cap in the tap that's the silver round bit in the middle.

You'll see a screw in there loosen it . That holds the tap itself in place . You'll then see the tap glands. This needs to be removed with a spanner . Remove it check the rubbers and seals clean it off refit it.

Most likely this gland is shot and may need replacing can be bought on Screwfix for a multi tap such as yours.

    Refit everything turn water on.

There is no need to remove he entire tap from the basin unit to do any of the above

Yes there is a valve inline with the tap so that was the first thing I did :-)

Thanks for the really clear instructions! I have the spinny part of the tap removed...I guess it's just that that needs to be replaced. Now to try find the correct part...

    Something like this? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Universal-Replacement-ceramic-cartridge-quarter/dp/B00KG2ZKRK

Edit - just measuring and the sizes aren't a match..

If it's dripping from the spout then the seal at the bottom of the spindle is worn. Not sure if they can be sourced but an O ring will fit in it's place, just make sure that the O ring protrudes enough to seal against the opening inside the tap body whilst also holding the discs* in place. The only issue is the material of an O ring and it's compatibility with drinking water.

*white discs inside are removable so watch that they don't fall down the sink drain. Clean these discs of any grit and note the fitment to ensure they go back in the correct orientation.

If it's dripping from the spindle then the upper O ring needs replacing.

Also check for any scale inside the tap body that could be affecting the seal contact.

Thanks for the information...yes it's leaking from the spout. I'll probably just replace the whole part I removed rather than fiddling around with seals.
    Once again...boards to the rescue...thanks guys :-)
