So how does the local link bus service work?

Just saw an advertisement saying it could bring me anywhere?!

Beer runs could be in for a game changer

I think its a rural Ireland thing

You have to ring them for timetables!!!!!!

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

It then stops off at the supermarket and in the town center and they giver you about 2-3 hours in town before collecting you.

I see Farranfore has one, wouldn’t you think an airport, train station and bus stop be enough.

You think there should be a bus stop and no bus?

Yes that's where i am so. Its overly complicated but I think I can get in to the big city for three hours, the timetables don't mention what days they run on. Or where I find these invisible bus stops.

how flexible are they with pick up and drop off. Does it have to be at allocated stops or would they be flexible enough to pickup/drop off you as long as you were on the route?

The local link has changed a bit since I posted here. The service seems to have expanded.

To answer your question I think a lot of it depends on the driver. Even with Bus Eireann buses near me. Some will stop to drop off people and pick them up within reason. Especially with older people.

Slightly off topic. The leap card is great. Better if you're a student.

There’s two types of Local Link service. One is a regular, scheduled local bus that runs between pre-defined stops. I guess like most busses, the driver will sometimes stop between stops under certain circumstances.

The other, called Door-To-Door runs along a route but can deviate to pick people up from/drop people off to a house that isn’t on the route, like down a road that’s off a main road. If they’ll go off the route to pick you up, I assume they’ll also stop anywhere on the route too. You have to arrange the pick up/drop off in advance, though
