My lad has just started college and has his debs and a family wedding coming soon so he was looking at getting himself a first watch to wear at the debs & wedding and then have as a daily beater after that

Likes my Steinhart O1B so has come across the Invictas onlne within his budget

Not a fan of them myself with all their branding all over them and trying to steer him in the direction of a Seiko SNXS77K

Its taking a bit of convincing but its his money so his decision in the end

Just wondering of anyone has any alternative suggestions in the same price sub 100 bracket of a diver like the Invictas

    TIA

The invicta is generally poorly viewed in watch collector circles. He might be better off getting a used Seiko SKX. There are a few on adverts for 150 ish. This invicta is just so big and obnoxious.

I am selling this ecodrive it has a SS strap as standard

but an automatic is a proper watch..........

I have a Seiko turtle for sale on adverts? But its more then 150.

Look Invicta are solidly built nothing wrong with them.

Like the look of the Sturhling what would the general opinion of them be?

    What about this or this...

Bit over budget – and not exactly my style, but objectively – they're very nice – and they're Seiko...

I quite like the first one of them actually – throw this on to it, and you're onto a winner – in my opinion...

    thanks for the suggestions

should have said he probably needs to keep it at 37-40mm otherwise its just swamping his wrist

Well I also like what you're pushing for – the SNXS77K, actually my first automatic was the silver version of that. I must say though – the strap on these models is not the best. Again – one of these on it, and you'll have a very nice watch... The SKX013 is 37mm, and is a fine watch – again, it's over budget – but a great watch. And finally – one that's under budget, but not the easiest to find, and second-hand – the Citizen Eagle 7, a 36mm automatic – that's the one I'd be going for. Anyway – good luck...

ok, so he was on tinternet while I was out this morning and came across this

    http://www.creationwatches.com/products/seiko-quartz-262/seiko-classic-sapphire-sgeg95-sgeg95p1-sgeg95p-mens-watch-4747.html

Its a bit of a deviation from a diver style watch but in essence I think it might be best for what he's after, its a quartz and has sapphire crystal

Any opinions on creationwatches? Delivery times? Reliable? Duty?

That's quite a nice watch in my opinion, I nearly bought one once – very versatile with straps. I felt it was too big for me though... Here's one from the U.K. – cheapest on eBay, and last one available – seems to be a good seller too...

Creationwatches – I bought my SKX from them, and yes – it was held by customs, then DHL – ended up costing me quite a bit, but still cheaper than had I bought the watch here. It took maybe a week or two – if I remember correctly, though DHL had it for just as long – I don't know if I'd do it again, they're prices are great – and their service is pretty good too, but dealing with customs and DHL was a bit of a pain. If you're genuinely happy to wait, pay customs and pay DHL on top of it – then go for it, otherwise I personally would pay the extra 30 euros for the watch above – on this occasion, it actually might end up cheaper thank from Creationwatches...

SKX is a smashing watch for the price, definitely the best at the price point and possibly better than some in higher price brackets.

    I would avoid Invicta personally.

Great! In my experience you just can't go wrong with a Seiko. And a watch like the above, never really ages. Would be really nice on a brown leather crocodile strap too, in my opinion. Good luck...
