RF interference from Sky box

    Hi folks

My dad has two tvs, one run direct from Sky box (old Sky+ via SCART) and the other in another room running from the RF Out from Sky box. The tv that is getting the RF has terrible reception - lots of "snow". It can work fine for hours and then loose enough signal that the TV wants to power off.

I replaced the connectors on both ends of the coax - same problem. Even replaced the TVs. They were both really old CRT.

Am thinking that the problem is the coax cable between (Duh!). It's been there for about 20 years. Has anyone any other suggestions before I have to pull and replace the cable? It's a major job as the house is really old and there's a few really thick granite walls for it to pass through. Am hoping against hope that I'm overlooking something.....dreading having to crawl through tiny attics pulling cables.

Not 100% sure, but is there much electrical cables going parallel to said coax cables?

Same power cables since day one. They only meet/cross for about 1m going to the Sky+ box. Only additional was an extra RG6 for Sky+. But removed old analog aerial cable at the same time.

Try changing the RF channel that the Sky box is outputting. You'll need to retune the TV that is being fed by RF to the new channel. Try a few different channels to see if there's any improvement. I think 68 is default so try in the 20s, 30s, 40s etc.

Was on 68 so changed to 21 and did a rescan. So far, it seems to be ok. Fingers crossed I won't have to replace the cable :)

Channel 68 is close to 800MHz used for mobile phone signals so that might have been the problem.

Could well have been. There's three phones here. Plus a mobile bb router using homeplugs so possibly a lot of interference. Anyway, it's about 3 hours changed and there's no more interference :)

Yes, this is the most likely cause of the interference. I've had to change the output of a number of Sky boxes for the same reason.
