From memory reading the T&C's one of the criteria is that if you are accepted into the scheme you have to then submit a BPS application, so you can enter GLAS without making a BPS claim.

See point 8.4 in the attached link.

BTW I'm linking GLAS Tranche 1 T&C's as they pertain to us. You should contact DAFM or an approved Agri Consultant for recommendations regarding your circumstances.

No it's closed for another 2 years at least. current scheme is 3 years old now

And can’t wait for it to end. Sick of looking at field of weeds and that’s just the LIPP not to mention the wild bird crop.

You could enter Glas without entitlements

You can’t enter unless you submitted a valid bps application that year

I see thank you. So one applies for Glas whenever it's open and puts in a valid BPS application (eventhough there are no entitlements on the land). Can you get BPS without entitlements ( I am over 40)?

Could just buy one or a low number of low value entitlements and use that as the basis of your application.

Yes, as said above you can buy them and then activate on your land. The market for them usually ramps up around Feb, March, April - in advance of the BPS deadline. It’s often auctioneer offices who trade in them and they advertise in the Farmers Journal during the above months. But nothing stopping you contacting your local one now. Could try local mart too as they sometimes deal in them too.

Arra it’s like this. The scheme pays €4K and I wouldn’t get that out of the land but it’s just fierce annoying to have 3 acres growing weeds and 25 acres I cannot top til July.

I suppose we were all spoiled in reps.

The dept inspectors down here refer to glas as chaos, it's self explanatory.
