I have lost all my phone contacts for the last few years on my iPhone 6, only the oldest contacts are left on the phone , but all the contacts are on my iPad . Anyone with any idea
Don’t want to do a full reset in case I lose all my photos

Do you have iCloud backup turned on?

Everything including your photos should be backed up there.
Days of keeping contacts and photos solely on devices should be over

OP. Have you recently removed an email account from your iPhone? Or even changed the password perhaps?

If you open your contacts, there should be an option for “Groups” in the top left corner. Go in here and make sure everything is ticked.

If they are still in your iPad then compare the accounts which are signed in on both.

but all the contacts are on my iPad

What account are they on? Select each group singly to view.

In Settings > Contacts > Default account > what's the default account?

    It’s on iCloud

Check Settings > iCloud > Contacts is on?
If its off, select 'Merge' when you turn it on.

If the default is iCloud on the iPad as well, they should sync across straight away.
