Greetings all and thanks for taking the time to read this log.

    Background:

Started running in 2010, got the bug met lots of great people and did lots of great races but that all ended in early 2015.

Life took a bit of a turn around then and other things took priority and while I said I would keep running away in the background slowly but surely I ran less and less to the point now where I am grossly unfit and overweight.

The head is saying what is the point but the heart is somewhat in it again. I want to get back to the point where I can join friends again for a social run, do a Parkrun of a Saturday morning in a reasonable time and do the odd shorter race.

Put simply I suppose I also miss the buzz of it and I'm also pretty down though I don't really show it with how I have lets things go weight wise.

This log is just somewhere to hold myself accountable. If nobody comments I don't really mind but would welcome comments along the way. Training will start on Monday. Not sure yet what form it will take but I have listed some short terms targets below to reference:

Get back up to 5K running continuously by early October.
Run minimum 3 times per week to achieve this.
    Improve eating/drinking habits vastly.

I'm 43 tomorrow so the long term aim is to lose 44 lbs before I'm 44.

Thanks for taking the time to read.

    P.

Could have written parts of that myself! Trying to get back on the straight and narrow too.

Good luck...hopefully we'll both be here in October thrilled with ourselves! :D

Bloody hell this didn't fare out too well did it....

Plenty of excuses and reasons not to run and to be honest not having any real desire to do it either. Coaching a couple of my old training partners for DCM and seeing how they performed, as well as the whole buzz around the marathon kind of gave me a reminder of how great the running community is out there and what I was missing.

After some more procrastination I finally laced up the runners yesterday evening and got out the door. No other proper running gear that fits me at this stage but at least the runners did.

    3 x 7 mins plod, 1 min walk

2 miles covered in just under 24 mins

It's a long road back but with the dark evenings and not much else to do the hope is to get back to some reasonable level of fitness and drop plenty of lbs along the way.
