Hi I have a duel flush value on two of my toilets. They have always been hard to push the buttons to flush and kids find them impossible.

I going to replace the internals working for the cistern.

What the difference between the cable flush valve and the valve with no cable, is there a benefit of one over the other.

Is there a particular brand that are good to buy.

iv attached a link to the cable valve

I found from installing them that the cables seem to have a smoother and easier button than most of the one where the button is in direct contact with the flush valve.
The one you linked to is a very good make, but installing it will involve fully removing the cistern and changing the bayonet receiver for the new flush valve.
If this is work you are not familiar with, it may be best left to a plumber to do it as it is all too easy to not get it right and cause a lot of water damage from leaks

The main reason I want to replace them is to make it easier for the younger kids to flush the toilet. The current valve is full of lime scale (14 years old).

I can't see any info on the size of the button. The hole on the top of my cistren is 40mm D. Would that be standard size for both button and the hole ?

Nearly every top flush cistern lids have the same size diameter hole, fairly standard, so no problem there.

Yes I agree, that receiver for the flush unit is extremely finicky for something that looks simple enough to install. Anyone got any tips for how to Install without leading to leaks?
