    Hi All,

This may have been answered before but I cant find it. I have an old Sky box & get the UK FTA channels no problem. A work colleague gave me her old SKY + HD box & I have a spare satellite dish & thinking of setting it up for another room. I connected the SKY +HD box to my current dish to test & I got some FTA channels but its on the Irish EPG - RTE1 is 101 etc. Is there anyway of defaulting it to UK EPG (101 BBC1 etc). I tried powering off/on but Irish EPG remains. Any good suggestions or am I wasting my time. Not interested in using the HD record function.

    Thanks.

    T.

This is a PACE box. Not sure if that makes any difference.

Some Sky boxes default to the last Sky region on the card. To get a Uk EPG, you need a UK Sky card, even a free view one. It used be possible to get a Sky card to view programmes which were part funded by, if I remember correctly, the BAI. If still available these can be used to reset the box to a uk region. (At least it worked for me, there is a old thread on this somewhere.)
I don’t know where I put the card as I could use it myself.

As said you need a UK sky card, there were a couple of sellers on Adverts, the ad was posted briefly recently, the seller was in Wicklow Town. I have been using two of the cards for a couple of years, without a bother.

    Hi All,

I got a UK Sky card. but the box doesn't reset to UK channels. RTE 1 is still 101. I've powered the box down, inserted the card, put on power but not turned on the box. Left for a while then started the box. No joy. Still looks for Irish channels. Tried various combinations of this but can't get it to work. Maybe the Sky + HD box can't be defaulted TO uk channels.

What you can try is unplug box from wall and that does a hard reset, leave for 5 mins, now the uk card may be out of date ie missed the keep alive signal or its really an irish card. when you power box back on have card in box and make sure it goes in crd slot, it should either say wrong card or searching for listings. If after that and its still rte 101 then pretty sure its an irish card.

pace is an old box and sky stopped updating if you go to settings it should show under model no something like R010.073.94.13P and thats the last update, if its a different number let us know.

before you give up power off box again etc and then put card in upside down and see what happens.

    Thanks Swoofer,

Will try the card upside down trick & let you know.

    Model no. is R010.070.94.00P

    Thanks,

I bought the card from a dealer on Donedeal as a UK card so have to assume its one. Unfortunately turning the card upside down doesn't do anything for me. Still defaulting to RTE1 on 101. Looks like I'm goosed with this one.

    Thanks,

I have been using two cards for a couple of years, recently I tried to use the UK card in another box and it worked, I then mistakenly put an Irish card back into my own HD box and it reset to the Irish epg. It took a few attempts to get the UK card to work again, I got it to reset by leaving the box on, inserting the card and then turning the box off and on, without unplugging the box.

It is not a huge issue having the Irish epg. You are talking about 1 page on the guide being unwatchable.

By the way is there any button on the remote to do a 'page down' on the guide. The down arrow just goes down a channel.

With the Irish EPG you are missing all of the ITV channels and Channel 5 family of channels from the EPG. Also, there are Irish versions of the Channel 4 channels that are scrambled from time to time whereas the UK versions are available 100% of the time.

There are FreeToAir receivers available for around €40. These would allow you to sort the channels into whatever order you like. The main issue with these receivers is the lack of a 7 day guide (you only get now and next).

I just added the itvs, c4 and c5 and grouped all the channels I wanted into the Other Channels category. Granted it is slow to move between them but I just use it in a bedroom.

For the sake of less than €50 you could get a less frustrating STB than an old Sky+HD box without sub.
Arrange the channel list to your own preference.

R010.070.94.00P is old but with this box you can no longer do a forced update, it will eventually update if left plugged in. This may be the problem. You could try doing a complete reset but I still think its the card.

Look on here on how to do a full reset

    https://skyepginfo.co.uk/HowToGuides/System-Reset.php

and do a few turn on and off as stated above. Another thing does the box detect the card ie go to system details and see if shows up, you could always go back to seller.

Thanks for all the replies. Will probably give up & buy a free to air receiver. Box still shows number of previous card, not my current card. Have reset box & powered off/on several times but doesn't seem to see number of new card.

Will mess about with it tonight & if no joy, I'll just give up on it.

    Thanks,

    T.
