Satellite Finding with Quattro LNB

Just received a Quattro LNB + multiswitch from FreeTV. I will be installing the 80cm dish this weekend and have a rough idea of where to point the dish etc, also have bought the 10 euro Satellite Finder which gives a signal strength beep and needle reading.

My question is which of the 4 LNB outputs do I connect the Satellite Finder to?
Would I connect all 4 LNBs and tweak until finding optimum level for all 4?
Or just pick one LNB output randomly, find highest level and then use a connected TV to fine tune?

By the way, I have to recommend the FreeTV site for instructional videos for all fundamental aspects of satellite installation, good job by those lads.

I did it using a cheap tunable meter by picking 4 horizontal low frequencies, 4 vertical low frequencies, 4 horizontal high and 4 vertical high. This may be overkill but it worked.

I'm not sure if it is possible using the meter you have. I actually found it difficult to get all transponders at a decent level using an 80cm dish and an Inverto quattro. Some would be incredibly strong while others were much weaker. It took quite a bit of patience to get it right.

I just connected to one of the middle connections, ( to the living room, two feeds to a Freesat box) , got the strongest signal there. The ones on either side work fine.

Were you using a quattro or quad lnb? They are very different. A quattro is designed to work with a multiswitch and has four separate outputs: VL, HL, VH, HH.

Thanks Navi - Appreciate the response - might have to get the tuneable meter then!

Why an 80cm dish for 28.2? Bigger dish is much harder to aim accurately.

    I'm partial to your abracadabra,

I'm raptured by the joy of it all.

The 80cm dish was recommended for use with Quattro LNB & Multiswitch. I would have preferred to use 60cm to minimize wind resistance but I went with the recommended larger dish (as per FreeTV guidance)

I went for the bigger dish for the same reason. To be honest I think a smaller dish would have been sufficient. I am using a 5 x 16 multiswitch.
