Travel Insurance Claim Query - broken glasses

Was hoping somebody might be able to give me some advice as to how I can make my claim more likely to be accepted without causing insurance fraud (i.e. is there anything I shouldn't say).

While away recently I opened my glasses case and found that one of the arms had broken off. I had used them travelling and they were fine. Mainly wore sunglasses there but used them a few times and were fine, I think. We did do a few more active stuff but can't specifically think what might have broken them. I am not sure how it happened but something must have as suddenly arm completely snapped off. They were in a very sturdy thick case so not from lack of care.

Travel insurance mentions limit per prescription glasses claim so makes me thing they do cover glasses. Am certain is something that happened while away but not sure what to say in claim. Found a replacement pair of same model so have a price for replacement.

Would really appreciate some advice as would like some contribution towards €200 for new pair :(

I don't think that would be covered. You would have to lie and get it under lost luģage or something

Is there not an excess on your policy that might make it not worth your while to claim for something so small?

Can they not be fixed? Glue?

I would seriously doubt there's anything in your insurance policy that would cover this. It's usually theft that's covered not accidental damage and certainly not accidental damage caused by yourself, if they were damaged in your suitcase whilst travelling then maybe.

Do you have proof that they weren't damaged before you went on holiday?

I'm afraid you'll just have to suck it up.

In my experience glasses/spctacles/prescription sunglasses, in fact, eyewear in general are usually excluded in most policies

    Thanks guys.

Excess is €85 and new glasses are €200 so still worth it. I was wearing them travelling and occasionally the first few days and they were perfect. I should have photos to prove so, I think. They can't be repaired by glue, apparently, because of the type of glasses they are. And as I have said above policy specifically says prescription glasses are covered.

I might ring them and have a chat. I don't want to lie but it is just unfortunate I don't know what happened that did cause them to break.
