Failing HDD

Hi guys. My old laptop HDD is failing. It has a clicking noise when I turn the laptop on and it will take about 30mins(at best) of constant turning on and off for the HDD to work and boot up. Is there anyway to force it to boot up normally? O basically just want to copy some sentimental photos to my new laptop, whipe laptop of data then hopefully sell it for parts or whatever.

I can't currently sell it as I have so much important photos and data, logins, private stuff etc.

Would it help that there's a second HDD of like 20gb in it?

Edit: I don't know 100% if it's the HDD. I'm not that tech minded, I just follow guides online etc but from my knowledge, that's my conclusion anyways but you tech guys would know better so please correct me if I'm wrong.

    STOP.

Do not use it any more if you want the data. Even trying to boot it once more could leave you in very expensive recovery land.

Use a cradle and a different computer to dump the drive.

    Thanks for the advice!

I've been using it that way for months until I got my new laptop. I'll look into your suggested method. Thanks alot!
