Lambs for the Islamic festivals

There was no local trade for the August Festival but quite a few lambs were bought ( by a Muslim with the help of a local agent ) on farms in the Westport area . The guy said he would be back in October and would be also buying ewe lambs at that time. I think payment came from a company called Roundwood .

Last year we sold ram lambs with tails to a local agent for that market but this year he did not get involved.

Have any of you sold lambs to Muslim agents for either of this year's festivals ? Were there any agents active in your area before Eid al-Adha in August ? Just wondering so little activity in our area this year

    ............Thanks

Think it’s only the two big ones really. Don’t think they buy lamb for any of the others

I brought this up before in another thread.... very quiet up this way aswell I got 1 phone call asking about ram lambs and that was it... didn't notice any outside dealers in the mart either buying heavy ram lambs.

Thanks for replying. It seems unusual for them to be buying when no big festival on . I hope the money actually comes for the lambs in October.

There are rumours going around about things not working out too well for one of the agents last year so farmers are a little nervous about that trade this year
